Mr. Chester “Chet” Fleming Shuman, Jr., 68, was lifted into the arms of Jesus, to his heavenly home Friday, July 15, 2016, at Carolinas Healthcare System - NorthEast in Concord.
A memorial service is scheduled for 5:00 pm Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Pastor Tom Whidden assisted by Rabbi Yossi Wentz.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 4:45 pm at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Shuman was born July 22, 1947 in Wauchula, FL. He was the son of the late Patricia Creech Shuman and Chester Fleming Shuman, Sr. Chester graduated from Lakeland High School in Lakeland, FL and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971 – 1973. After that, he was employed by the personal products division of Johnson & Johnson as a territory manager. Before his retirement, he worked for Rack Room Shoes in Huntersville, NC. “Chet”, as he was called by many family and friends, loved the Lord. He served on the Board of CHaRA (Construction Help and Relief Acts) Ministries and helped provide water wells in Africa, where he travelled several times for missions. Chet was a member of First Assembly Church of Concord. He was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Chet will be missed for his wonderful, funny personality, and his love for gourmet cooking.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Brenda Wamack Shuman; sons, Samuel Christopher Shuman and wife Julia of Lexington, KY and Michael Spencer Shuman of Concord; sister, Bonnie Shuman Ganey of Lakeland, FL; and grandchildren, Ava, Hailee, Samuel, and Avery Shuman.
