Christopher Justice-Chance Overcash

Chris Overcash died suddenly while hiking with his Boy Scout troop on Saturday, September 22nd, 2012.

Chris was born to Candace Drake and Johnny Overcash on January 30, 1996 in Concord, North Carolina. A bright, friendly boy, his beloved teacher, Robin McElhannon, described him best, �Chris had the face of an angel, the free spirit of an innocent child, and the energy of an atomic bomb�. Chris loved to make others laugh, gave bone-crushing hugs, and never met a stranger. Chris was a weekly volunteer at the Cabarrus Pets Society where his love for dogs and natural gift with animals was an asset. He was active with Scouts and attended many Scouting adventures including a sailing trip in the Bahamas. Chris loved the Army since his participation in Army ROTC and planned to enlist after graduation.

Chris is survived by his siblings Ashley, Jordan, Karma, Alyssa, Jace, and Zacharia, his family of friends at A.L. Brown High School, the youth group and youth leaders of High Rock Community Church, previous caregivers The Lathrops, Ms. Roberts, The Wilhelms and The Bargers, his biological parents and grandparents, his devoted and tireless caseworker Sandy Porcari, his four-legged best friends Ferdy and Clover, and his loving guardians, Erin and Andy Messmer.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 26th, 2012, from 4:00 pm until 5:45 pm with a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 pm. The service will take place at High Rock Community Church in Kannapolis North Carolina.
