Christopher Brian West

Christopher Brian "Chris" West, 17, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015, at his home, after a four year battle with cancer.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Jay M. Robinson High School Auditorium. Rev. Alan Thompson will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the school.

Chris was born August 19, 1998 in Prince George County, MD. He was the son of Brian Dale West and Michelle Carsey West, both of the home. He was a student at Jay M. Robinson High School, where he would have started the 11th grade this fall. Chris was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed playing and watching all kinds. He also liked to play video games. Chris was active in giving to other children with the same illness as him, and got much satisfaction from helping both adults and children. Chris wanted to be remembered as a kind, caring, young man.

In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his brother, William West; and two sisters, Kayla West and Hannah West, all of the home.

The family would like to thank all of the individuals and organizations that offered Chris and our family such warm and loving support since his diagnosis. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Levine Children’s Hospital and their bone marrow transplant team, and also to the Hemby Children’s Hospital.

The family requests that in memory of Chris, to wear a sports shirt or jersey of the individual's choice, or a Chris's Crew t-shirt to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Chris’s Crew Foundation, P.O. Box 5244, Concord, NC 28027 in order to continue the legacy of giving to other families.
