Clarence Johnson Walter

Mr. Clarence Johnson Walter, 95, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Monday, July 18, 2022, at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. Rev. Alan Thompson and Rev. Joel Locklear will officiate. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:45 pm Monday at the church.

Mr. Walter was born June 27, 1927 in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late Martin Monroe Walter, Sr. and Minnie Allman Walter. He was a long time member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. He loved his family, surf fishing, gardening, and yard work. He retired from NCDOT as a foreman and was a founding member of Mt. Mitchell VFD in 1967.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Doris Hilda Boyd Walter; daughter, Shelia Ann Fleeman; four brothers, York Odell Walter, Martin Walter, Jr., Melvin Walter, Jr. and Ray Walter; seven sisters, Pauline Parker, Thelma Hartis, Ethel Moore, Alma Lequire, Frances Slough, Margaret Barnhardt and Lessie Hudson.

Mr. Walter is survived by son, Jerry Wayne Walter of Rockwell; five grandchildren, Melissa Blovsky and husband Jim, Alan Thompson and wife Myra, Karen W. Courtney, Mark Walter, and Jamie Hall and wife Stephanie; 12 great grandchildren, Taylor Blovsky and wife Jackie, Kelsie Blovsky, Dylan Courtney, Brandyn Courtney, Angel Thompson, Jesse Walter, Luke Walter, Josh Walter, Isla Walter, Noah Hall, Corbin Hall and Blake Marek; one great-great grandchild, Jensen Blovsky; and two sisters, Jerline Helms and husband John of Ohio and Doris Turner of Kannapolis.

Memorials may be sent to Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church, 6001 Old Salisbury Concord Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083, Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
