Cynthia Locklear Ballard

Cynthia Locklear "Cindy" Ballard, beloved wife and Indian Princess, 66, of 7511 Tuckaseegee Road, Kannapolis, died Friday, December 19, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church. The Revs. Joel Ervin, Max Smith and Tom Tucker will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church. At other times, they will be at the home. Born November 17, 1942 in Robeson County, she was the daughter of the late Ashby Locklear and Pearlie Locklear. She was a beautician and cosmetologist for many years. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, she was the leader of the Sonshine Club for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lindora Lowry and Laura Authurs. Survivors include her husband Alvin Bradford "Brad" Ballard; a daughter, Crystal Teresa Clark and husband Anthony Dean Clark of China Grove; two sons, Bryon Layne Ballard and wife Samantha Ballard of Salisbury, Brad Alan Ballard and wife Noelle Evans Ballard of Kannapolis; four sisters, Genese Paul, Angela Fields and husband Billy, both of Lumberton, Doris Locklear and husband Johnson of Pembroke, Gearlene Oxendine of Maxton; four brothers, Mack Locklear and wife Loraine, Laney Locklear and wife Bernetha, Lacey E. Locklear and wife Annie Lois, all of Pembroke, Derrick Locklear and wife Tabitha of Maxton; four granddaughters, Bry-Anna Ballard, Arey Grace Clark, Cyndale Clark and Katelyn Ballard; and two step-grandchildren, Trinity Evans and Amanda Evans. Memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, Building Fund, 703 Buick Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
