Mr. David Glenn Deaton, 71, of West A Street, Kannapolis, died Sunday, August 19, 2007, at a local nursing facility. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Steve Mowery will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born June 26, 1936 in Rowan County, he was the son of Hazel Lowder Deaton Ewing of Kannapolis and the late Isham Deaton. He was a retired carpenter and painter. Mr. Deaton was an accomplished musician and singer. He was a well-known antique clock repairman, clockmaker, and a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Survivors in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Pamela Thomson of DeBary, FL; son, John Deaton of Miami Gardens, FL; two sisters, Brenda Decker of Mooresville and Joyce Bubacz of Franklin; three grandchildren, Philip C. Thomson, Jr. of St. Cloud, FL, Lisa M. Thomson of Orange City, FL and Erica Vermiglio of Concord; and his former wife, Margie R. Deaton of Miami Gardens, FL.
