David Franklin Holmes

Mr. David Franklin Holmes, III, 67, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Brian Phillips Ed.D. will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 pm Sunday prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Holmes was born on February 19, 1947 in Akron, Ohio. He was a son of the late David Franklin Holmes, II and Viola Davidson Holmes. He served in the US Marine Corp. Mr. Holmes was owner operator of a moving company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Buford; and brother, Thornton W. Holmes.

Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Edith Hamilton Holmes; three children, Martina Holmes of New Bern, Rejeana Jones and Rashon Holmes, both of Akron, OH; three sisters, Donna Jones, Jaunita Johnson and Faye Holmes all of Ohio; two brothers, Michael Holmes and wife Katina of CA and Mark Anthony Holmes of Akron, OH; aunt, Mangia Holmes of Akron, OH; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
