Rev. David Ray Miller, 75, of 320 S. Correll Street, Landis, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Genesis ElderCare in Salisbury. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Trooper Ferguson will officiate. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Rev. Miller was born May 14, 1929, in Iredell County. He was a son of the late John Hedrick Miller and Lillian Atwell Miller. He retired 13 years ago from Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis and was a retired Free Will Baptist minister. Rev. Miller served as a corporal with the Combat Engineers during the Korean War. He was a member of Genesis Baptist Church and the American Legion in Landis where he served as chaplain. He was also a member of the Over the Hill Band. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ollie Mae Lambert Miller. Rev. Miller is survived by his wife, Katherleen Carter Miller; a son, Walter Miller of Kannapolis; a daughter, Margie Wagner of Sparta; two sisters, Betty McDaniel and Lois Jones, both of Kannapolis; a brother, James Miller of Mooresville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
