Dee Fowler Gillon Sills

Mrs. Dee Fowler Gillon Sills, 92, of 495 Pickler Road, died Friday, October 16, 2009, at The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Rhoades will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm Sunday at the church. Mrs. Sills was born January 16, 1917 in Tulia, TX. She was a daughter of the late Frank Alexander Fowler and Frances Hinson Fowler. She retired from Cannon Mills where she worked in the sewing room and she also was a seamstress. She was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church and the Friendly Circle. She was an avid volunteer at the W.G. "Bill" Hefner V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry B. Gillon, Sr. and her second husband, Joseph R. Sills; a daughter, Amy Ruth Gillon; and a brother, W.C. Fowler. Mrs. Sills is survived by six children, Harry B. Gillon, Jr. and wife Lena of Mt. Pleasant, Frank L. Gillon and wife, Shelia of Kannapolis, David B. Gillon and wife Joan of Concord, Earl D. Gillon and wife Sandy of Mooresville, Nina Dix and husband Dale of Salisbury, and Mark S. Gillon and wife Robin of Huntersville; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and her special companion, Daniel Smith of Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Coltrane Life Center, 321 Corban Avenue SE, Concord, NC 28025.
