Delta Clare Sheets

Delta Clare "Dell" Sheets, age 96, of Cub Street, Kannapolis, died Friday October 16, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast. Funeral services for will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Rom Kerley will officiate. Burial will follow on Monday at noon in the Peak Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Laurel Springs, NC. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Delta was born in Wilkes County on April 17, 1913, a daughter of the late Clyde Denton Sheets and Julia Etta Dancy Sheets. In 1943, she moved to Baltimore, MD where she lived with her husband and her children until 1968, when they moved to Kannapolis. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and a doting grandmother. Her family and church were precious to her. She was a long-standing member of Mills Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, Kannapolis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thed H. Sheets; an infant son, Jesse Clyde Sheets; and three brothers, the Rev. Rex Sheets, Wade Sheets and Ralph Sheets. Survivors include sons, Dwight Sheets and wife Mary, Dwain Sheets and wife Beverly, Richard Sheets and wife Wanda; a daughter, Carol Raye Tracey and husband Bill; three sisters, Rita Cloe Sheets, Raye Long and Gaye Powell; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.
