Demps Ray Overcash, Sr.

Mr. Demps Ray Overcash Sr., 76, of 5470 Enochville School Road, China Grove, died Friday, May 13, 2005 at his residence. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at St. Enoch Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Mark Beam III and the Rev. Constance Garrett will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times they will be at the home. Born in Rowan County February 4, 1929, Mr. Overcash was a son of the late Demps Vernon and Mary Deal Overcash. He retired in 1989 as a supervisor of Cannon Mills. He was an active member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church and held various offices in the church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Overcash was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Dana Overcash and Brent Overcash and two brothers, Wilburn Overcash and Vernon Overcash. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Blondell Self Overcash; a daughter, Fran Todd of China Grove; three sons, The Rev. Demps Ray Overcash Jr. of Japan, Randy Overcash of Mooresville and Mark Overcash of China Grove; a sister, Louise Overcash of China Grove; two brothers, Everette Overcash of Kannapolis and Ernest Overcash of Warner Robbins, Ga.; four grandchildren, Destry Overcash, April Poteat, Jay Todd and Cameron Overcash; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Enoch Lutheran Church, 701 Campbell Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
