Mrs. Denise Barnyak Franko, 69, was taken from her family, Monday, August 13, 2012 by the neuromuscular disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
A memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later date in that Denise has offered her body to the research facility at Wake Forrest University, NC in hopes of carrying on her legacy and helping to find a cure for ALS.
Mrs. Franko was born on February 16, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of Margaret E. Hatline of Kannapolis and the late, Charles T. Hatline. Mrs. Franko worked as an optician for over thirty years dedicated to helping others with sight problems. She was a loving mother.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughter, Michelle D. Franko of Kannapolis; son, Dr. Alexander P. Franko and wife Kristine of Centennial, CO; three grandchildren, Sydney, Joshua and Noah Franko; four grand-dogs and one grand-bird.
