Donald Grey "Don" Beaver, 71, of 1204 Mable Avenue, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Tucker Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Upright will officiate. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury with Masonic Rites conducted by Allen Graham Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends prior to the service from noon until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home. Born April 10, 1938 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late F. H. Beaver and Audrey Walton Beaver. He formerly worked as a supervisor with the former Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills. He was a member of the former Redeemer Lutheran Church. A charter member of Southgate Masonic Lodge, he was a current member of Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge No. 695. Don was an avid golfer and a former member of the Kannapolis Country Club. His hobbies also included fishing. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Baxter Beaver; a son, Gregory Scott Beaver and fianc e, Tammy Blanchard, of Lexington; two daughters, Sharon Beaver Lawing and husband, Mark and Debbie Beaver Miller and husband, Dicky, all of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren, Jason Odom, Erica Hughes, Brad Jones, Mark Yow II, Zackary Lawing, Haley Lawing, Hayden Miller and Holden Miller; and a great-grandson, Waylon Jack Hughes. Memorials may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28083. The family expresses sincere gratitude to Dr. Thomas Steffens, Dr. Garry Schwartz, Dr. James North, and the oncology department at CMC-Northeast for the the compassionate care given to them and their loved one.
