Donald W. Beaver, Sr.

November 19, 1939 — March 8, 2011

Mr. Donald Worth Beaver, Sr., 71, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Center United Methodist Church of which he was a member. Rev. Jerry Hagler will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am Saturday at Center United Methodist Church. Mr. Beaver was born November 19, 1939 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Franklin Worth Beaver and Sarah Elizabeth Winecoff Beaver. He was the owner/operator of Don's Discount Drug Store Inc. He opened his first of five drug stores on South Union Street in 1969. Don served as a hometown pharmacist for over 40 years. He was fortunate to have assisted many people when in need, and will be remembered as a kind and generous man that enjoyed helping others. He was a graduate of Winecoff High School Class of 1958, and the pharmacy school at UNC Chapel Hill in 1962. While at UNC, he was a member of the Phi Delta Chi fraternity. Don was an avid musician. He enjoyed playing the piano and the trombone and also composed hundreds of songs including inspirational, spiritual and big band jazz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Donald Beaver, Jr. Mr. Beaver is survived by daughter, Rozalyn Lehning of Concord; brother, Larry Beaver of Concord; and granddaughter, Sydni Abernathy.
