Donald Edward Berry, Sr.

December 22, 1937 — April 20, 2005

Donald Edward Berry Sr., 67, of 204 Pine Court, China Grove, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, after being seriously ill for eight months. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis. The Rev. Curtis Parker and the Rev. Ralph Robinette will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the service. They will make headquarters at his home on Pine Court, China Grove. Mr. Berry was born December 22, 1937, in Gladewater, Texas, the son of the late Eulon Lee Berry and Arry Bell Knight Berry. Mr. Berry was a retired mechanist and had worked for Cannon Mills, Fieldcrest Cannon and later the Adams Mark Hotel in Charlotte. He was a twenty year veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the VFW Post 8989 in Kannapolis. He was also a member of Central Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Junior Department Sunday School teacher. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Pinyan Berry; son Donald E. Berry Jr. of Kannapolis; daughters, Sharon Harvell and husband, Jeff of Salisbury and Jennifer Berry Sinclair and husband, Caleb of Kannapolis; sisters, Faye Coffman and husband, Bill of Fayetteville, Ark., Linda Miller and husband, Jim of Athens, Texas and Dorothy Mills of Lake Worth, Fla; brothers, Gerald Berry and wife, Doris of Shreveport, La., Royce Berry and wife, Kathy of Punta Gorda, Fla and Tom Berry and wife, Selma, of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Cameron Harvell and Mackenzie Harvell. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 1810 Moose Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
