Mr. Donley Ray "Don" Rogers, 78, of 6851 Unity Church Road, Kannapolis, died Friday, August 24, 2007, at his home. A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2007, at Carolina Memorial Park. Born June 29, 1929, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Homer Rogers and Mary Scercy Rogers. A retired truck driver, he drove for Hennis Freight Line for many years. He was a veteran of the US Army. Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Eller Rogers; a daughter, Kathy Rogers of the home; three sons, Sam Rogers, Blake Rogers and Scott Rogers, all of Kannapolis; four sisters, Dorothy Rogers, Pauline Stanford and Joyce Steele, all of Kannapolis, Betty Lou Linker of China Grove; four brothers, Buck Rogers, Raymond Rogers, Kenneth Rogers and Carl Rogers, all of Kannapolis; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family expresses great appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Cabarrus County for the excellent care that their loved one received.
