Doris Church

Mrs. Doris Corl Shoe Church went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Doris was born in Concord on May 31, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Frank A. Corl and Mildred Bostic Corl. Doris was a devout Christian first and foremost, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Doris spent her life caring for others selflessly, expecting nothing in return. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and her church family. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen Shoe.

Doris is survived by her current husband, Jerry Church; son, Jeff Shoe of Kannapolis; daughter, Sonya Helms (Joe) of Kannapolis; three step-daughters, Sherri Hannah (Billy), Leanna Howard (Roger) and Denise Church, all of Concord; ten grandchildren, Jase Shoe (Crystal) of Charlotte, Austin Smith (Daniel) of Concord, Alley & Carson Helms of Kannapolis, Elizabeth, Alexandra and Natanni Hannah, Maddy and Will Howard and Savannah Church, all of Concord. One precious great grandchild, Charleigh Claire Smith of Concord. She will be greatly missed by all of these whom she cherished and provided an amazing example of how to walk closely with the Lord.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 12:00 pm at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with visitation to follow at the church. Immediately following the visitation, the burial will be at New Gilead Cemetery in Concord. At other times, the family will be at the home, 4500 Hilton Lake Road, Kannapolis.
