Doris Faggart Gillon died peacefully at The Crest of Clemmons in Clemmons, N.C. on Monday, September 28, 2015.
She was born in Kannapolis, NC on December 8, 1922 to the late William Dixon Faggart and Vera Pence Faggart. Doris lived most of her life in Kannapolis where she retired from Cannon Mills after many years of service. After retirement, her volunteer work at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Concord led to a part time position as a receptionist at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast where she worked until age 87.
Doris was a very giving person and loved her family and many friends. At the age of 89, she moved to Lewisville, N.C. to live with her son and daughter in law and she spent her last three years at The Crest of Clemmons, N.C. She never forgot her friends and thought of them often, always sending cards with personal messages on birthdays and special occasions.
Doris adored her family and thought of them often. Her brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Bryte Faggart, and her niece Diane Faggart preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, the Rev. Bill Faggart and wife Dot; her nephew Phil Faggart and wife Tammy; and their sons Phillip, Jr and Devin Faggart.
Doris was the widow of George W. Gillon. She is survived by her son, Whit Gillon and wife, Beverly of Lewisville; granddaughter Holly Gillon; grandson Brandon Gillon and wife, Jodie; great-granddaughter Kinsley Gillon; and stepson Alex Moss, all of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Doris Gillon's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, At Lady's Funeral Home on North Cannon Blvd in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at 1:00.
