Doris Mae Horton

Mrs. Doris Mae Edgison Horton, 85, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, at her residence.

A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rafe Allison will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Horton was born November 29, 1930 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Marshall Robert Edgison and Mamie Rebecca Yost Edgison. She previously worked at Fair Martin Box Company and the Old Dominion Box Company. She later worked at Central Cabarrus High School in the cafeteria, and then retired from the Speedway Club as a cook. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Doris used to enjoy fishing as long as her health permitted.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Howard Horton; sister, Mary Brines; and granddaughter, Anita Horton Rilling.

Mrs. Horton is survived by son, Roger Horton and wife Linda; two brothers, Coy Edgison and Gene Edgison, all of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Geraldine Howell of Concord and Marie Mullis of Mt. Pleasant; three granddaughters, Susan Allman, Cynthia Davis and husband Brian and Candice Horton; and four great grandchildren.
