Mrs. Doris "Granny" Phillips Kosma, 90, of 904 Vermont Avenue, died Monday, December 27, 2010, at Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday, December 31, 2010, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Rev. Alvaro Riquelme will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm � 8:00 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Kosma was born April 9, 1920 in Charlottesville, VA. She was a daughter of the late Sidney L. Phillips and Alma Jane King Phillips. She was the operator of the OK Lunch in Concord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Fred Harry Kosma, two brothers, Joseph Rea Phillips and Sydney Phillips, and sister, Constance Maupin. Mrs. Kosma is survived by son, James H. McNally of Charlotte, three step-daughters, Carolyn K. Griffin of Kannapolis, Sally K. Barrett of Crofton, MD, and Deanna K. Paprzycki of Chevy Chase, MD, four grandchildren June, Sean, Brooke and Erin, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and five step-grandchildren. Her family members will forever remember her for "always worrying and being concerned for the well being of her loved ones", "being the most optimistic and wise person they've ever known", " a cool cat and a hip old granny ","always full of spunk and energy", "loved all kids and never met a baby she did not love", "she was the best, most loving mama anyone could ever want", "a unique and special lady who showed us the true meaning of family and LOVE". She will be deeply missed.
