Dorothy Mae Baker

Dorothy Mae Witherspoon Baker, 85, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Big Elm Retirement Center in Kannapolis. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, September 12, 2014, at Carolina Memorial Park. Chaplain John Curran will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Lady’s Funeral Home. Mrs. Baker was born February 22, 1929 in Hickory, NC. She was a daughter of the late Lewis Herbert Witherspoon and Rosie Smyre Witherspoon. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant One Distribution Center where she was a dispatcher. She was a member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Leroy Baker in 2007. Mrs. Baker is survived by three sons, Mark Wayne Baker of Kannapolis, Dale Leroy Baker and Houston Clifford Baker, all of Kannapolis; sister, Wilma W. Earnhardt of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Courtney Barnes, Clinton Baker and Amber Richards; and two great grandchildren.
