Mrs. Dorothy Louise Gulledge Dean, 84, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Friday, May 20, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Sutherland and Rev. Chris Messina will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at her residence. Mrs. Dean was born April 27, 1927 in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late Ben Gulledge and Annis Allen Gulledge. She retired from the Sewing Room of Cannon Mills Plant 1 where she worked as an inspector and formerly worked at Bitsy Bakery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilson G. Gulledge and Clyde "Doc" Franklin Dean; two sisters, Mildren Jenkins and Emma Louise Tucker; five brothers, Grover Gulledge, Robert Gulledge,, Henry Gulledge, Bert Gulledge and Perry Gulledge; and two infant sons. Mrs. Dean is survived by her daughter, Peggy Ruben of Salisbury; two sisters, Virginia Hancock of Mt. Croghan, SC and Myrtle Null of China Grove; two brothers, Bobby Gulledge and Benny Gulledge, both of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Tim and wife, Wendy, Terry Ruben and Steve Ruben; and five great grandchildren, Victoria Edmiston, Jaclyn Edmiston, Ashlee Ruben, Colby Ruben, and Christinia "Nina" Biella and her husband, Danielle.
