Mrs. Dorothy Lee Compton Kidd, 99, of Kannapolis passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Carillon Assisted Living in Salisbury .

Mrs. Kidd was born on April 9, 1916 in Madison County, GA. She was the daughter of the late James and Orrie Lee Compton. She graduated from Comer High School, Comer, GA in 1934.

Mrs. Kidd was employed by Cannon Mills in the weave department for 5 years before retiring to become a beloved homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and sister.

She had been a faithful member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Kannapolis since January 9, 1938. She and her husband, Fred W. Kidd, were the 43rd and 44th members of Franklin Heights Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Winston Kidd, who passed away in 2003; four sisters, Willie Compton, Nellie Thompson Church, Margaret Trexler, and Betty Hubbard; and two brothers, J.B. Compton and Robert Compton.

Survivors include her son, Winston Gary Kidd and wife Norma of China Grove; daughter, Kaye Kidd Ollis and husband Pete of Concord; sister, Carolyn Corriher and husband Frank of Landis; four grandchildren, Todd Michael Kidd and wife Terri of Salisbury, Dana Marie Lindsay and husband Marshall of Rockwell, Stephanie Adams and husband Rick of Concord and Michelle Ollis of Norwood; seven great grandchildren Heather Clark, Whitney Smith and husband Lucas, Justin Kidd, Camilla Adams, Joshua Adams, Hannah Poteat, and Tristen Tredway; one great-great grandchild, Tripp Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled at 2:00 pm Monday, June 15, 2015, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Rev. David Simpson will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.
