Mrs. Dorothy Evelyn Young "Dot" Lowder, formerly of Midland, 94, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center in Salisbury.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, January 2, 2017, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Katie Lovelace, Rev. Gary Pinkley will officiate. Interment will follow at Howell's Baptist Church Cemetery in Concord.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 10:45 am Monday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lowder was born June 25, 1922 in Oglethorpe County, GA. She was a daughter of the late Dewey Thomas Young and Willie Gladys Burnette Young. She worked for Cannon Mills as a timekeeper. She was a member of Howell’s Baptist Church. Dot enjoyed square dancing. She was a supporter of 4-H, and attended the State Fair for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years Thomas Jefferson “Jay” Lowder; brother, Willie Leon Young; and sister, Susie Montene Bonds.
Mrs. Lowder is survived by step-son, Tommy Lowder of Midland; brother, Dewey Thomas Young, Jr. of Kannapolis; sister, Camilla Stirewalt of Rockwell; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
