Mrs. Dorothy Flowers Prescott, 90, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, at her grandson's home in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Friday, August 18, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Rev James Pauley along with her Grandsons, Paul Cahoon & Mark Cahoon will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory in Asheville.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 3:45 pm Friday at Faith Baptist Church.
Mrs. Prescott was born March 5, 1933 in New Bern, NC. She was a daughter of the late John G. Flowers and Ada Powers Flowers. She married Richard Prescott in 1951 and was married to him for 43 years until his death in 1994. Dorothy was a Licensed Practical Nurse having worked at the Naval Hospital in Norfolk, VA and the VA Medical Center in Asheville. She was a faithful member of numerous Free Will Baptist Churches over the course of her lifetime and most recently had been attending Church of Christ in Morehead City. She enjoyed Bible study, knitting, crocheting, sewing and planting flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Richard Prescott; and her daughter, Darlene Cahoon.
Mrs. Prescott is survived by her son, David Prescott of Portsmouth, VA; son-in-law, Lester Cahoon of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, Paul Cahoon, Teri Cahoon, Dawn Maurx, Mark Cahoon, Noah Cahoon, Jonathan Prescott and Jennifer Prescott; and 15 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express thanks to Robin Long and the ladies at Mount Pleasant Home Health who did such a wonderful job in helping us with care since coming to Kannapolis in January. They went above and beyond in many ways, especially in recent days.
