Durwood Lee Faucette

October 13, 1936 — March 16, 2005

Mr. Durwood Lee Faucette, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the home of his oldest daughter, Michelle, surrounded by family. Born October 13, 1936 in Sandy Creek, NC, he was the son of the late Harry Lee Faucette and Dorothy Louise Loyd Faucette. He was a truck driver for Johnson Motor Lines for many years and later worked for Yellow Freight Lines from 1982 until he retired in 1996. He was a veteran of the US Army. He loved the mountains and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed the time he spent in Mt. Pleasant on the land he loved. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Sharpe Shearon. Survivors include three sisters, Ernestine Terry of Boiling Springs, SC, Marie Williams and Barbara Taylor, both of Sanford; five daughters, Michelle Efird and her husband Tom C. "Buddy" of Albemarle, Lisa Baca of Rio Rancho, NM, Loretta "Lori" Morgan and her husband Adam, Amelia Johnson and her husband Charles, and Amanda Comer and her husband Terry, all of Concord. His daughters gave him thirteen grandchildren. He leaves behind a dear friend, Esther. His family will be eternally grateful to her for the joy and love she brought to the last few months of his life. A celebration of Durwood's life will be held in a private ceremony. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Sanford, NC. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in his name to New Tribes Mission, 1000 East First Street, Sanford, FL 32771-1487 or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis is assisting the family with arrangements.
