Edgar Chance

Mr. Edgar Chance, 77, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Rockwell.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Howard Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Chance was born December 8, 1945 in Harnett County. He was a son of the late Edward Chance and Norma Jean Maynard Chance of Dunn. Mr. Chance retired from Forbo Industries as a belt fabricator. He was a member of Rowan Christian Assembly. He loved yard work and just being outside. He was the biggest NASCAR fan back when Bobby Allison was racing ever and till his passing thought the world of Bobbi Allison. He was a Hard-core Trump supporter. He and his siblings as well as multiple relatives were instrumental in securing equal education rights for Native American children in North Carolina in the 1960s. This plight was memorialized in several books and makes all their descendants very proud. He was a proud member of the Coharie Tribe.

Mr. Chance is survived by his wife, Betty Goodson Chance; three sons, Edgar Christopher Chance and wife Starr of Wilmington, Brian Keith Chance and Kenneth Dale Chance, both of Salisbury; two daughters, Wendy Koffer of ID and Britney Demby; adopted family members, Gerardo and Aure Venezuela; beloved sister, Doris Givens and husband Fred of Yadkinville; four brothers, Edward Chance and wife Linda of Phoenix, AZ, Stoney Chance and wife Diane of Garner, Danny Chance and wife Kathy of Benson, Shelton Chance and wife Carolyn of Enfield, CT; eight grandchildren, Christopher Ryan Chance, Clay and Colby Poole, Sydnie Chance, Shawn Chance, Jessica, Amber and Katlin Pantle; and three great grandchildren, Baylor Wade Poole, Jaden and Landon Logan.
