Mrs. Edna Tanner Biggerstaff, 98, a resident of Universal Healthcare in Concord and formerly of S. Loop Road, Kannapolis, died Friday, August 24, 2007, at the nursing facility. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Pearlie Peterson will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Born April 19, 1909 in Jackson County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Benjamin Tanner and Lona Thomas Tanner. She retired from the sheet department of Cannon Mills Plant No. 1. She was a member of Boulevard Chapel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Webb Biggerstaff; two sons, Cecil Biggerstaff and Terrell W. Biggerstaff; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Biggerstaff; a great-great-grandchild, Brendan Hunter Justin; four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Ethel Biggerstaff of Morganton; grandchildren, Christine (Allen) Preston of Saucier, MS, David (Sue) Biggerstaff of D'lberville, MS, Cindy Huff and fianc Dr. Greg Randolph of Gulfport, MS, Bennett (Doris) Watts of Albany, GA, Terri (Bret) Cope of Brunswick, MA, Rosemary Gallegos, Wayne Biggerstaff, Judy (Larry) Akers and Lisa (Nathan) Smith, all of Morganton; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
