Effie May Mullis

Effie W. Mullis, 89, of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Carolinas Health Care System-Northeast.

A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30th, at Epworth United Methodist Church. The Reverend C. Wayne Allen will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church parlor.

Mrs. Mullis was born February 4, 1926 in Bangor, ME. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Ernest Walker and Beatrice Steeves Walker. After she graduated from Hartsell High School in 1944, she entered the Cadet Nurse Corps at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. She retired after working for over 20 years as a secretary at Concord Middle School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Earl N. Mullis.

Mrs. Mullis is survived by three sons, Alan Mullis, and wife, Wran, of McKenney, VA, Gary L. Mullis, and wife, Jan, of Pinehurst, NC, and Jeffrey K. Mullis, and wife, Dana, of Charlotte; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Crayton, of Macon, GA; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
