Mrs. Effie Rodgers Starnes, 95, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, November 27, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Forest Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 am Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Starnes was born July 4, 1914 in Iredell County. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Triplet Rodgers and Charlotte Davis Rodgers. She retired from the #1 weave room of Plant 1 of Cannon Mills in 1974. She was a member of Concord First Assembly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther David Starnes in 1965; a daughter, Lorene Spry; seven brothers and one sister. Mrs. Starnes is survived a daughter, Mae S. Allman and husband James of Landis; two sons, George Starnes and wife Becky of Landis and Triplet Starnes and wife Mitzi of New London; a brother, Clyde Thomas Rodgers of Mooresville; 12 grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
