Elaine Yarborough Shafer

Mrs. Elaine Yarborough Shafer, 53, of 8845 Brandon Circle, Concord, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, in Burke County, NC. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Back Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. The Rev. Matt Merrill will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. Born April 3, 1949, in Monroe, NC, she was a daughter of he late Ralph Yarborough and the late Virginia Rutledge Yarborough. Mrs. Shafer was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Stuart Shafer; three sons, Paul R. Shafer of Boston, MA, James E. Shafer and John D. Shafer, both of the home; a daughter, Mary Jane Shafer of the home; a sister, Karen Nealey of Monroe; and a brother, Eric P. Yarborough of Matthews.
