Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers Brown, 94, who made her home with her daughter, Kay Brown Ervin, and her husband, Gene, at 224 N. Union Street, Concord, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center. She had been in declining health for the last year. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2003, at Royal Oaks United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brooks Gibson, pastor of the church, and Pastor Fenton Jones of First Assembly will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 PM Friday at the church. Mrs. Brown was born February 11, 1909, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late F.U Rogers and the late Emma Freeze Rogers. Mrs. Brown was a life-long resident of Cabarrus County. A 1932 graduate of Catawba College, she was a retired school teacher in the Kannapolis City Schools. Most of her tenure was a Charles B. Aycock School, where she retired in 1974. She was a charter member of Royal Oaks United Methodist Church, where she had been active in earlier years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. Curtis Brown, Sr., on June 10, 1981, and two sisters, Mildred Rogers Daniel and Frances Rogers Hoffman. Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Kay Ervin, and her husband, Gene, of Concord; three sons, Bobby F. Quay and his wife, Audrey, of Kannapolis, Albert C. Brown, Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Hickory, Larry J. Brown and his wife, Glenda, of Augusta, GA; sister, Kathryn Rogers Taylor of Fitzgerald, GA; nine beloved granddaughters, Leslie Eury and her husband, Ronald, Melissa Anthony and her husband, T.W., both of Concord, Debra Smith and her husband, Bryan, of Charlotte, Cindy Amerson and her husband, Allen, of Salisbury, Libby Stultz of Hickory, Penny Knight and her husband, Gene, of Ft. Mill, SC, Jeannie Farrell and her husband, Joe, of Granite Falls, Cinnamon Hood and her husband, Keith, and Holland Brown, both of Augusta, GA; step-grandson, Joel Ervin of Charlotte; 12 great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Anne Henderson Sims, of Concord; and many nieces and nephews.
