Elizabeth Grooms Martin

Mrs. Elizabeth Grooms Martin, 86, of 380 Emma Road, China Grove, died Friday, December 21, 2007 at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis, after a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Donna Wise will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born May 5, 1921 in Pageland, SC, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late William Grooms and Pearl Wilkerson Grooms. She was retired from Linn Mill in Landis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Martin; and her siblings, Eloise Vaughn, Winnie Raines, T.C. Grooms, Perry Grooms and Marie Bradshaw. Survivors include her daughter, Sandye Kirkley and husband Sam of China Grove; a son, Steve Raines of China Grove; one brother, Jake Grooms and wife Valda of Madison; three grandchildren, Angela Kincaid and husband Greg, Meredith Jones and husband Brian, Lori Blackledge and husband Scott; eight great-grandchildren; and 17 nieces and nephews.
