Mrs. Elizabeth Burton Miller, 91, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. A funeral mass service is scheduled for 12:30 pm Saturday, October 22, 2011, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kannapolis. Rev. Alvaro Riquelme will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home with a Rosary service to follow at 7:30 pm. Mrs. Miller was born August 29, 1920 in Wilmington, NC. She was a daughter of the late John Thomas Burton and Mamie Leona Chadwick Burton. As a young adult, Mrs. Miller joined the Catholic Church. She has been a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kannapolis for more than seventy years. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Miller worked outside the home in Cabarrus County for Cannon Mills, as a retail associate at Grant's Department Store, as a Nurse Aide at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital and as a volunteer at Hospice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Jean Albert Miller; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Miller and brother, Robert Lee Burton. Mrs. Miller is survived by daughters, Donna Marie Sprague and husband, Thomas of Reynoldsville, PA and Peggy Graham and husband, Willie of Mt. Pleasant; son, Joseph Thomas Miller of Charlotte; sister, Katherine Barnett of Kannapolis; niece, Betty Martin of China Grove; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Debt Reduction Fund, 108 Saint Joseph Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
