Elizabeth Jane Taylor Burgess

Mrs. Elizabeth Jane "Lib" Taylor Burgess, 103, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her home in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wes Judy will officiate. Interment will follow at Misenheimer Family Cemetery in Concord.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burgess was born August 2, 1917 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late George Gilbert Taylor and Rosanna Jane Misenheimer Taylor. She attended Winecoff School. Mrs. Burgess was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. She was a retired nursing assistant at the former Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. Following her retirement, Mrs. Burgess was a private duty sitter for many people. She enjoyed going to auctions and meetings friends and family for dinner. Mrs. Burgess enjoyed helping and visiting sick people. She was always there to help anyone that needed it.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Baxter Burgess; daughter, Carolyn "Candy" Twitty; three sons, George Baxter Burgess, Larry Donald Burgess and Allan Duncan Burgess; and sister, Grace Marie McRorie.

Mrs. Burgess is survived by two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Burgess of Kannapolis and Grace Marie Burgess of Rockwell; two sons, Paul "Red" Sylvester Burgess of Kannapolis and Levi Burgess of Rockwell; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
