Ellen Newton Kirks Mceachern

Mrs. Ellen Newton Kirks McEachern, 53, a resident of the Brian Center in Hendersonville and formerly of Concord, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Park Ridge Hospital in Fletcher, NC. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Friday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times they will be at the home of a brother, Dewey Newton, Jr., 2719 US Hwy 601 South, Mocksville, NC. Born April 22, 1949, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Lee Newton, Sr. and the late Edith Simpson Newton Freeman. She was a homemaker and formerly attended West Concord Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Mike McEachern of Greensboro; a daughter, Angela Kirks of Concord; two sisters; Margaret Steele of Lexington, NC, Shirley Deese of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Dewey Newton, Jr. of Mocksville, NC, Clarence Freeman of New Caney, TX; and two granddaughters.
