Elsie Honeycutt Fincher

Mrs. Elsie Honeycutt Fincher, 93, a resident of Five Oaks Manor and formerly of 2309 Lane Street, Kannapolis, died Thursday, February 13, 2003 at NorthEast Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. R. J. Hammond and the Rev. Troy M. Rushing will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the home of a son, John A. Fincher, Sr., 1807 Brantley Road, Kannapolis. Born March 24, 1909, in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Adam Honeycutt and the late Sarah Baucom Honeycutt. Mrs. Fincher was a homemaker and a 1938 graduate of Unionville High School in Union County. She had lived in this area since 1950. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed gardening and canning. Mrs. Fincher was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Union County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Fincher, who died June 6, 1990; a sister, Myrtle Caulder; two brothers, Houston Honeycutt and Judge Honeycutt; and a great-grandson, Daniel James Fincher. Survivors include a son, John A. Fincher, Sr. of Kannapolis; two sisters, Lynea Keziah of Monroe, Lola Honeycutt of Kannapolis; a brother, Ralph Honeycutt Monroe; five grandchildren, Rebecca A Cranford of Mt. Pleasant, Danny T. Fincher of Seneca, SC, Beverly J. Hammond, John A. Fincher, Jr. and Richard D. Fincher, all three of Kannapolis; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
