Emma Pennington Measmer

Mrs. Emma Pennington Measmer, 88, a resident of Care Inn Rest Home, Mooresville, and formerly of 1301 Rena Street, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at Care Inn Rest Home. A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Don Greer and Rev. Richard Pethel will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of a son, Kenneth Measmer, 1301 Rena Street, Kannapolis. Born February 14, 1915, in Ashe County, Mrs. Measmer was a daughter of the late William Pennington and the late Minnie McClure Pennington. She retired several years ago from the number seven weave room of Cannon Mills Plant One. She had lived in this area for 74 years and was of the Baptist faith. Her husband, William Harry Measmer, preceded her in death on January 25, 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Faye Wingler and her husband, Glenn, and Linda Greer and her husband, Don, of Kannapolis; two sons, Bobby Measmer and his wife, Winifred, of Salisbury and Kenneth Measmer of Kannapolis; two sisters, Christine Rathbone and Dorothy Lackey of Mt. Ulla; two brothers, Frank Pennington of Houston, Texas and Glenn Pennington of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
