Ernestine Price Demarcus

Mrs. Ernestine "Ernie" Price DeMarcus, 83, of 802 Rogers Lake Road, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. Dr. Howard W. Tyas Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Mrs. DeMarcus was born in Cabarrus County on March 9, 1923, a daughter of the late Cleveland Bartley Price and Mary Essie Nash Price. She retired from Cannon Mills, where she worked as a secretary and was formerly employed at Terry Products and with the McKinley Corporation. A very active member at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, she served as an elder, church historian, treasurer, secretary, Sunday school teacher and choir member. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, L.S. DeMarcus Jr.; and a sister, Gaynelle Pressley. Survivors include two daughters, Carmen DeMarcus-McNeil of Concord and MaryAnn DeMarcus of Kannapolis; a son, Lon Mark DeMarcus of Kannapolis; numerous grand-dogs and cats and many special friends.
