Ethel Gallimore Childress' Obituary
Mrs. Ethel Parker Gallimore Childress, 93, of 1103 Jackson Street, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2004, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chuck Halipilias will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of her step-son, Tommy Childress, 617 Peacehaven Road, Kannapolis.
Born August 12, 1911, in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Calvin Elijah Burton Parker and Doris Snyder Parker. She retired several years ago from Cannon Mills, Plant One. She was a member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Jet Set and the Gladys Nelson Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Edwin Yates Gallimore, who died December 17, 1970 and Henry McCloud Childress, who died May 11, 1995; three sisters, Gladys Smith, Minnie Mills and Margaret Smith; and two brothers, Amos Parker and Bryce Parker.
Survivors include her step-son, Henry Thomas "Tommy" Childress and his wife, Sharon, of Kannapolis; a step-grandson, Randy Childress of Kannapolis, a brother-in-law, Hovis Smith of Wingate; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Jackson Park United Methodist Church, 715 Mable Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
