Ethel Lee Jackson Neely was born January 29, 1940, in Benton, Mississippi. She departed this life on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center in Huntersville.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Monday, November 29, 2021, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Dr. Clifford A. Jones, Sr. will officiate. The service will be live streamed at https://www.ladysfuneralhome.com/live.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Ethel was the daughter of the late McKinley Jackson and Willie Mae Mitchell Jackson. She was the third and only girl of four children. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Juan Neely; three brothers, Edward Phillips, McKinley Jackson, and Johnnie Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Veola Jackson and Hattie Mae Jackson; and nephew, Jonathan Jackson.
Ethel was educated through the Yazoo City Public School system and was employed at Luxottica Group, as a Computer Operator, until her retirement.
On August 7, 1966, united in holy matrimony to Richard Juan Neely and from their union had two children, Richard Erik Neely and Kishana Leah Neely.
Ethel was a beacon of light to her family and friends. She was a beloved wife; devoted mother; loving grandmother, favorite aunt, special cousin, caring sister, cherished friend; and neighborhood Mom to many. She was always friendly and never meet a “stranger” because she spoke to everyone. Ethel received Christ early in her life and was a faithful member of Friend Missionary Baptist Church of Charlotte, NC, under the leadership of Pastor, Dr. Clifford A. Jones, Sr..
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory her son, Richard Erik Neely (Huntersville, NC) and daughter, Kishana Leah Harvey (Baltimore, MD); son-in-law, John Harvey; grandson Jordan Harvey; bonus grandson, Julius Harvey; two sisters-in-law, Lula Mae Phillips (Flushing, NY) and Gloria L. Whitaker and her husband Roger N. Whitaker (Orlando, FL); brother-in-law, Leon P. Sealey, Jr. and his wife Michele Lloyd Sealey (Locust Grove, GA); two nephews, Bruce Phillips (Jamaica, NY) and Roger N. Whitaker, II (Orlando, FL); five nieces, Leslie Phillips (Jamaica, NY), Melinda Jackson (Houston, TX), Lydia James (Dover, Delaware), Justine Sealey (Atlanta, GA) and Valerie Whitaker (Orlando, FL); as well as a host of grand and great grand nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
