Mrs. Evelyn Sechler Brothers, 82, of 1006 Heather Drive, Kannapolis, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at 12:25 pm at Northeast Medical Center following a number of years of declining health. She will always be known for her strong will to live, her desire to beat the odds, and her ever constant gratification for those around her that supported her fight. She is finally able to meet her Lord and Savior and reunite with all her brothers and sisters in Christ who have passed before her. Services will be Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at 11:00 am at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard Rhoades and the Rev. Hoke Ritchie will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born December 28, 1920, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Herman C. and Annie Belle Rice Sechler. She worked for Cannon Mills Co. Plant #1 sewing room for many years and co-owner of Brothers Tire Sales Inc. until her retirement. She was a life-long active member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for numerous years. She was a former member of the Mr. And Mrs. Club at the YMCA and UCT. She was the last surviving of 14 children. Her family will always remember her as a devoted wife, loving mother, very special grandmother and a wonderful friend. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Brothers; one daughter, Jenny B. Jones, and her husband, Eric; one son, Doug Brothers, and his wife, Sharon, all of Kannapolis. Her grandchildren include Todd Haley of Kannapolis, Tracy Roberson and her husband, Art, of Kernersville, Shelley Farris and her husband, Ben, of Kannapolis, and Brad Brothers of Kannapolis; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Kendall Roberson of Kernersville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081 in lieu of flowers.
