Evelyn Ruth Foster Stegall

Mrs. Evelyn Ruth Foster Stegall, 78, formerly of Scercy Road in China Grove, died Sunday, March 22, 2009. A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Billy Honeycutt will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:30 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at of her daughter, Colette Abernathy, 600 West Ryder Avenue, Landis. Mrs. Stegall was born April 25, 1930 in Cabarrus County, NC. She was a daughter of the late Eugene A. Foster and Earie Huffman Foster Griffin. She was a graduate of J.W. Cannon High School in 1946. She founded the H & R Block Tax office in Kannapolis and operated it for more than 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Stegall; a daughter, Jettie H. Sehorn; and a sister, Zella Mae Lunsford. Mrs. Stegall is survived by a daughter, Colette H. Abernathy and husband, Dorland of Landis; two sons, Darrell E. Honeycutt and wife, Jewell of Albemarle and Scott E. Honeycutt and wife, Carla of China Grove; two sisters, Mary Lee Rhinehardt of Casselbury, FL and Edith Cosgrove of West Columbia, SC; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
