Evelyn Elizabeth Harris Rinehardt

Evelyn Elizabeth Harris Rinehardt, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born in Rowan County, NC, on January 16, 1939, to the late John William Harris and Viola Elizabeth Foster Harris. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Melvin C. Rinehardt; three sisters, Frances G. Harris Privette, Pattie J. Harris Haynes, and Clatie Mae Harris Whitley; and her brother, Stanley D. Harris.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Tim Rinehardt of Charlotte; sisters-in-law, Frances Rinehardt Mullis and Sue Williams Rinehardt, both of Concord; brother-in-law, Wayne Rinehardt of West Columbia, SC; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Concord High School and North State Business College. Evelyn enjoyed a long and varied career, primarily in women's hosiery manufacturing. Of all her professional experiences, one of the roles she cherished most was serving as a teacher's aide at the Donnelly School for children with developmental disabilities.

Evelyn enjoyed watching most sports on television with her son and late husband. She was also an avid gardener who took great pride in growing both flowers and vegetables. She loved traveling throughout the United States and Canada, with the Grand Canyon holding a special place as her favorite destination.

After retirement, Evelyn discovered a new passion when she took a hula dancing class at the Cabarrus Senior Center and immediately fell in love with it. She went on to become a founding member of the Hula Las, a senior dance team that performed for senior organizations, living centers, festivals, and fairs throughout the region for nearly a decade. She especially treasured the friendships she formed and the joy of sharing her love of dance with her fellow Hula Las.

The family extends special thanks to Evelyn's dear friends and caregivers, Charzetta Hodge and Kathy Murray, for their years of kindness and compassionate care.

She will be remembered for the joy she found in life's simple pleasures, the friendships she cherished, and the love she shared with her family.

A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive from 3 to 4:45 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.
