Mrs. Evelyn King Weeks, 91, of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday, April 22, 2002, at Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. Dale Tanner will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The body will remain at Lady's Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Born June 20, 1910, in Lancaster County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Rufus King and the late Sarah Missouri McManus King. She was a graduate of Waxhaw High School where she was valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Weeks retired several years ago from the Sewing Room of Cannon Mills. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. Her husband, Robert Jackson Weeks, preceded her in death on June 26, 1978. Survivors include a sister, Fannie Pharr of Kannapolis; a brother, Guy King of Tampa, FL; special niece, Ruth Nash of Kannapolis; special nephews, Ron S. Pharr and his wife, Joan, of Chapel Hill, Tommy Pharr and his wife, Donna, of Charlotte, J. Rufus King and his wife, Helen, of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, Becky Finley, Billy Douglas, Barbara Schmidt, Bethe Rittenburg, Jonathan Pharr, Andrew Pharr, and Cristie Harkey; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
