Mr. Everette Eugene Rary, 94, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 8, 2026, after 3 years of declining health.
Everette was born in Cabarrus County on February 20, 1932, a son of Vernell E. Rary and Pearl Foil Rary. He was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis and a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a teller and usher.
He was preceded in death by wives, Joyce Rary (1994) and Aylene "Toots" Rary (2016), and his brother Franklin Rary.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Chuck (Kim), granddaughter Ashley, and great granddaughter Trinity Robinson.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Everette served in the Army at Fort Benning from 1952 – 1954, teaching and repairing military vehicles and equipment. He was proud of his service and talked about it often. After serving in the army, he worked at Nesbitt Marine in Charlotte repairing boats and motors for 15 years. Then he went to work at Duke Power as a welder in a fab shop until he retired in 1990. After retirement, Everette worked at home repairing lawnmowers and various other equipment, motors and vehicles. He could fix almost anything. He enjoyed his church and periodically took the senior saints on day trips to various locations. He lived with a smile on his face going fishing, trips to the beach and lake house, spending time with family, friends, and traveling.
