Evie Jean Simmons Griffin

Mrs. Evie Jean Simmons Griffin, 83, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, April 28, 2023, at West Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. William Nix will officiate. Interment will follow.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Griffin was born April 8, 1940 in Athens, GA. She was a daughter of the late Clifford Lemuel Simmons and Eunie Mae Dodd Simmons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Wayne Griffin; a son, William Eugene Smith; two sisters, Virginia Safrit and Dorothy Waller; and three brothers, Lonnie Simmons, Onnie Simmons and Grover Tolbert.

Mrs. Griffin is survived by son, Jeffery Smith and wife Dawn; two sisters, Betty Robinson and husband Hal of Concord and Karen Shelton of Kannapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
