Mrs. Fannie Fowler Carter, 92, of Big Elm Nursing Home and formerly of Temple Street in Kannapolis, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Big Elm Nursing Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007; at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Barnhill, Karen Barnhill and Ralph Adams officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Carter was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Franklin County, Ga., a daughter of the late William Lee Fowler and Estie Jordan Fowler. She was preceded in death also by her husband, William Cecil Carter; and four brothers, Edward Fowler, William Fowler, Jessie Lee Fowler and Alfred Fowler. Mrs. Carter attended Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church and was employed by Cannon Mills for 43 years. Survivors include five sisters: Joyce Parson of Concord; Virginia Stickler of Salisbury; Venetia Steele and Vera Allene Smith, both of Kannapolis; and Irelle Wilkinson of Mooresville.
