Dear Family: I am a first cousin of Florene (daughter of Susie McGill & Gordon Whitener). Our mothers were half sisters. I was raised in the Mountain View Community, Hickory, NC. During my childhood our families often visited and I have fond memories of those hours. Florene was my teacher in the sixth grade at Mountain View School and I always felt close to her. I regret tnat my husband and brother Harry Lee Whitener I cannot be present Saturday for this celebration of Florene's life. Sincere love and prayers.
