Mr. Floyd Samuel Taylor, formerly of Tanglewood Drive, Kannapolis, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Five Oaks Manor, following several years of declining health. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Shadybrook Baptist Church. Dr. Dave Holiday will officiate. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The body will remain at Lady's Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Taylor was born September 6, 1918 in Chesterfield County, SC. He was the son of the late John Malcom Taylor and Annie Jordan Taylor and had made his home in Kannapolis since 1941. He was a charter member of Shadybrook Baptist Church where he was active in all church affairs. He retired several years ago from Cannon Mills and was employed by Lady's Funeral Home for a number of years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by Mrs. Grace Taylor, his loving wife of 64 years; four brothers and five sisters. Mr. Taylor is survived by his son, Jerry S. Taylor and his wife Cookie; two granddaughters, Tracie D. Morris and her husband Bill of Kannapolis, and Tiffiny L. Sheets and her husband Dale of Charlotte; and one great-granddaughter, Lea E. Morris of Kannapolis. The family request that memorials be made to Shadybrook Baptist Church, 1009 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081, in memory of Mr. Taylor.
